IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Details for International Students

The admissions are open for the academic year 2026-27. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to name two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is according to an official notification from IIT Delhi.

Required Test Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level Indian entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also accepted. Candidates may submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also necessary.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
