IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Eligible foreign nationals can apply online for the academic year 2026-2027. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in . Applications must be submitted by 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Admission Eligibility

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must declare English proficiency. They must also provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This assessment is part of the official notification.

Required Test Scores

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level Indian examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE awards.

International examination scores are also considered. These may include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
