IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are currently being accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Deadline and Eligibility

The application portal for foreign national candidates closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Required Documentation

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Criteria

IIT Delhi considers multiple factors for admission to its PhD and PG programs. These include scores from national and international standardized tests.

Accepted Test Scores

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Additionally, candidates must provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

Final admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
