The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide a statement of English proficiency. They must also nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
For PhD and PG programs, IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also mandatory.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
