IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Eligible foreign nationals can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

The application window for the 2026-27 academic year will close at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. This opportunity is open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration confirming their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores are from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
