Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Application Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .
The application portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language ability.
While not always mandatory for all programs, applicants may be required to submit scores from competitive examinations. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International students must also present scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Final admission will be based on a candidate’s performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
