About This Scholarship

The Pre-Matric SC Scholarship Class 9 and 10, Tripura 2025-26, is an initiative by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to Scheduled Caste (SC) community students in Tripura who are enrolled in Class 9 and 10.

Selected candidates will receive a scholarship of up to ₹525 per month for 10 months, along with additional grants. The application deadline for this scholarship is 15 January 2026.

Awards and Benefits

Eligible students will receive financial assistance structured for both day scholars and hostellers over a period of 10 months:

Scholarship (In ₹ per month for 10 months)
• Day Scholars: ₹225
• Hostellers: ₹525

Books and Ad-hoc Grant (In ₹ per annum)
• Day Scholars: ₹750
• Hostellers: ₹1,000

Additional Provisions for Students with Disabilities

The "Inclusive Education of the Disabled at Secondary Stage" (IEDSS) scheme, managed by the Ministry of Education (MHRD), provides financial support to students with disabilities attending secondary-level government, government-aided, and local body schools. This assistance falls under the scheme's "Student Oriented Component" and is designed to support the education of these students.

Note: Students in unaided schools are not eligible for the IEDSS scheme.

However, SC students with disabilities, studying in Classes 9 and 10 in private, unaided recognized schools, are eligible for the following allowances:

• Reader allowance for blind students: ₹160 per month
• Transport allowance for students with disabilities (as defined in the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995), if such students do not reside in the hostel which is within the premises of the educational institution: ₹160 per month
• Escort allowance for severely disabled (i.e. with 80% or higher disability) Day Scholars/Students with low extremity disability: ₹160 per month
• Helper allowance is admissible to any of the hostels willing to extend help to a severely orthopedically handicapped student residing in the hostel of an educational institution who may need the assistance of a helper: ₹160 per month
• Coaching allowance to mentally retarded and mentally ill students: ₹240 per month

Important Note: The disability, as defined under the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation Act, 1995) Act, must be certified by a competent medical authority of the State Government/UT Administration.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must:

• be an Indian national
• be domiciled in Tripura
• belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community of the state
• be a regular, full-time student of Class 9 or 10, studying in a government school or a school recognised by the government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education
• have an annual family income of not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources

Note: Applicants must not be receiving any other centrally funded scholarship. However, beneficiaries of this scholarship may also avail themselves of the National Means-cum-Merit scholarship scheme offered by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.

Required Documents

The following documents are required for the application:

• A passport-sized photograph
• One attested copy of academic transcripts, including degrees, certificates, etc.
• A valid caste certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar
• An income declaration by the self-employed parent(s)/guardian(s)
• A receipt acknowledging the scholarship from the previous year (if applicable)

How to Apply

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:

1. Visit the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
2. Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
3. Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
4. Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option, as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
5. Click on 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard.
6. Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
7. Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
8. Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process.
Note: This is a temporary registration number. Students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.
9. After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
10. Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents, and submit.

Important Note: All applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
