Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Process and Requirements
Candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Applicants need to submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They must also provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
In addition, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Selection
IIT Delhi will offer admission based on candidate performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
