The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested foreign nationals can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Both Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from examinations like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores may also be required.
English language proficiency test scores are necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
