IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline for international students is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Details

The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Applications will be accepted until 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Both PhD and PG courses are available to foreign nationals.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. They need to submit a statement or self-declaration of their English skills.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Standardized test scores may be required. For PhD and PG programs, these can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE scores.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
