Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Admission Details
The application window for the 2026-27 academic year remains open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will issue recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills, according to IIT Delhi’s notification.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. For international applicants, scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Additionally, candidates must provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation for this interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
