IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website,international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Applications are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters.

Referees will be contacted to assess candidates’ overall aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Admission Criteria and Testing

To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from specific standardized tests. These include:

  • Indian Entrance Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE.
  • International Exams: GRE, GMAT.

International students may also be required to take English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination. Scores from other recognized language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

Final admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
