IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Applications are for the academic years 2026-27. International students are eligible. This includes individuals with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. The application portal is international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude and research potential. They will also assess English proficiency.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates may need to submit scores from qualifying examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted scores are from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) and DST INSPIRE are also options.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview committee of faculty members will assess applicants. The committee evaluates aptitude for the chosen discipline. Research potential is a key factor.
