IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
The programs are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance examinations like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
