The NIF Translation Fellowship 2025, offered by the New India Foundation, is a prestigious opportunity designed to support outstanding translators and scholars. Selection Criteria:
Candidates for the NIF Translation Fellowship 2025 will be selected through a rigorous process:
• Applications will be invited through targeted advertising by the New India Foundation in prominent journals and online platforms.
• The NIF Trustees will meticulously assess all submitted proposals to create a shortlist of eligible candidates.
• Shortlisted candidates will then proceed to a thorough interview process. This interview will be conducted by a distinguished jury, comprising the NIF Trustees and other eminent persons from the fields of scholarship, business, and social service.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the NIF Translation Fellowship 2025, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:

• The applicant must be an Indian citizen or a Person of Indian Origin (PIO).
• They must demonstrate strong fluency in both English and the specific Indian language chosen for the translation project.
• The applicant must propose a translation of a significant non-fiction work that was originally written in an Indian language.
• Evidence of prior translation work, relevant research experience, or a suitable academic/professional background is required. This demonstrates the applicant's capability and commitment to translation.

Required Documents

Applicants are required to submit the following documents as part of their application:

• A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing academic qualifications, professional experience, and any relevant translation or research work.
• A detailed proposal outlining the translation project. This proposal should clearly describe the non-fiction work to be translated, its significance, the proposed approach to translation, and the expected timeline.
• A sample translation of 5 to 10 pages. This sample should ideally be from the proposed work or a similar work, showcasing the applicant's translation style and proficiency.
