IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Academic Qualifications and Scores
Submission of scores from national or international standardized tests may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
English Proficiency Tests
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
