IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students | Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27 . Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Process and Requirements

The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 . Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

These referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities. This information is detailed in the institute’s official notification.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include India’s Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.

International examination scores are also accepted. Candidates can submit results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. IIT Delhi will invite candidates with strong academic records. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

Applicants must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.
