IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
The admissions are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will consider scores from national and international standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program. International students may also submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.
Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
