IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Details
The application portal is accessible online at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may include scores from national-level tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
