IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be assessed on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Academic and Test Scores

For PhD and PG programs, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also considered:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
