IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Prospective students can submit their applications via the official website: international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They will also need to provide details of two referees for recommendation letters.

Admission Process

Referees will evaluate candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission consideration.

Required Test Scores

Candidates might need to submit scores from national-level Indian examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme. International students may also submit scores from examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English Proficiency Tests

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. A self-declaration of English proficiency will also be required.

Selection

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel of faculty members. This panel will assess their suitability for the chosen discipline.
