IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on the deadline date.

Admission Eligibility

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English language proficiency. The assessment covers both oral and written English abilities.

Required Scores and Assessments

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. For PhD and PG programs, scores from international exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.

Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi programs for international students will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. This interview is a key part of the selection process.
