IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
The application portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement declaring English proficiency. Two referees are required to submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Standardized test scores may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students may submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
English proficiency must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. A self-declaration is also an initial requirement.
Selection Process
Admission is based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The interview assesses overall aptitude and suitability for the program.
