IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to all foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They must also provide details of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees’ Role

Referees will assess candidates. They will comment on overall aptitude. Proficiency in the chosen field is evaluated. Research potential and independent thinking are also assessed. English language skills, both written and oral, will be reviewed.

Admission Requirements

Submission of scores from specific standardized tests may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
