IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to submit applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27 .
Application Process
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Applicants are required to submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Entrance Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE
- International Exams: GRE, GMAT
Candidates also need to demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other approved language tests
Selection
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
