IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is for international students and closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English language abilities.

Academic Qualifications

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
