IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Interested candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Application Requirements

IIT Delhi will consider scores from various standardized tests. This includes the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) for PhD and PG programs. International applicants may also submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination. A self-declaration of English proficiency is also required.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
