IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications online. The application portal is accessible via international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations regarding the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores may also be required, such as:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Additionally, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on an interview process. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
