IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from foreign nationals for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

International students, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to comment on candidates’ aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, and English language abilities. This information is part of the official admissions notification.

Academic Qualifications and Test Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews.

The interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic disciplines. This step is crucial for final selection.
