IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the 2026-27 academic year . The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested students should submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Application Requirements
Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Proficiency in English language tests is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. The institute may accept other language proficiency tests.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. This process ensures a thorough evaluation of each candidate’s potential.
