IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m . Eligible candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will evaluate candidates on their overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is according to the official admission notification.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International examinations such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs for international students will be based on interview performance. Candidates with a strong academic record will receive invitations for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
