IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility and Requirements
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on their overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to official notifications.
Academic and Language Proficiency Tests
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) tests, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE awards.
International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
