Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic years 2026-27 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. The notification states referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Specific scores may be required for eligibility. These include:
- For PhD and PG Programs: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
- English Proficiency Tests: Scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or similar tests are mandatory.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.
