IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply for the 2026-27 academic year.

The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline to submit applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Process

Admission requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered. Candidates must also submit scores from English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations.

Interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
