IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Master’s (PG) programs. The deadline for international students to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in . The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English skills. Two referees who can submit recommendation letters are also required.

Recommendation Letters

Referees will be contacted to evaluate candidates. Their comments will cover overall aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking are key evaluation points. English proficiency, both written and oral, will also be reviewed.

Academic and Entrance Exam Scores

Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International applicants can also submit scores from GRE or GMAT. English proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. An interview committee will assess applicants. This committee comprises faculty members from the relevant discipline.
