IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Process

Interested candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Applicants need to submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) tests, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees in their respective disciplines.
