IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement. Candidates also need to provide details of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

The referees’ comments will focus on a candidate’s aptitude, subject proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International applicants may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with a strong academic record will be invited to participate. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
