IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants need to submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

To be considered, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also accepted:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include:

  • TOEFL
  • IELTS
  • TOEIC
  • OPI
  • OPIC
  • Cambridge English Examination
  • Other recognized language tests

Admission Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
