Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application portal remains open until March 30, 2026 , with a deadline of 4:00 PM. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit letters of recommendation. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national and international standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. A strong academic record is required to be invited for this interview with a faculty committee.
