IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This is typically done through a self-declaration statement.

Candidates need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Academic and Language Proficiency Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International applicants may submit scores from exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
