Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Eligible foreign nationals can apply online.
The application portal is located at international.iitd.ac.in. The window for submissions closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. This applies to admissions for the academic year 2026-27.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a self-declaration of their language skills.
Applicants must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
