IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Prospective students can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in for admission to the 2026-27 academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency.
Two referees will be required to provide recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will consider scores from national and international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. English proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are mandatory.
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
