IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

English proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are required. These scores verify a candidate’s ability to communicate effectively in English.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with a strong academic record will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for advanced study and research.
