Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills, according to the institute’s notification.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international entrance examinations. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
