IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The application window closes at 4 p.m. on the deadline date.
Eligibility Criteria
The institute welcomes applications from non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to provide a self-declaration of their English language skills.
Application Requirements
Applicants must nominate two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills, both written and oral. IIT Delhi may also consider scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International applicants may submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
Admission Process
Admission to the PhD and PG programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
