Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Admission Details
The application portal will remain open until 4 pm on March 30, 2026. This applies to admissions for the academic year 2026-27.
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE awards for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are necessary.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations.
An interview committee composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline will assess candidates. The committee evaluates overall aptitude and suitability for the program.
