The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. They will need to submit a self-declaration of their English skills.
Candidates are required to nominate two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English proficiency.
Required Examinations and Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
