The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are due by March 30, 2026 .
Application Details
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply online. The application portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. Interested students can access the application at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program for PhD and PG admissions.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee evaluates candidates for their research potential and suitability for the program.
