IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must submit their application through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examinations are also accepted. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Candidates will also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
