Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-2027 academic session. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency.
Recommendation and Scores
Candidates must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. Specific standardized test scores may be required.
For PhD and PG programs, applicants may need to submit scores from examinations such as GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also present GRE or GMAT scores.
Language Proficiency
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations, among others.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline. This interview assesses suitability for the program.
